The Winter of 1999 Anna designed this hat. It was her first design, and it has been popular ever since. We have tweaked the pattern a little bit (there is a "short" version now) but basically it's the same. Susan and Anna were learning that if you knit with two hands when using two colors, it REALLY matters which hand each color is held in. The one coming from the left is dominant. Diane knit this sample and switched hands to prove the point, and as a design element. It's fun to change it up along the way.
We came up with three colorways for you as kits. If you want to have fun and mix and match your own, any worsted weight will work. We like Rios for the multi-color. But Cascade 220 Superwash Wave would work also. For the solid we like Cascade 220, Berroco Ultra Wool, or Malabrigo Rios semi-solids.
Full skeins of the two colors
Needles needed: 16" circular size 5 or 6 and size 6 or 7 (It depends on how you want to start your hat. Latvian Braid uses a size 6. Rolled brim uses a size 5).
