-Knitting Fellowship, Relaxation, Views of Lake SuperiorWe encourage new people to attend our retreats. We love to see new faces in our circle. We usually have a nice mix of new and returning knitters. We also welcome any level of knitter. We have people attend that haven't picked up their knitting in 20 years, and they have a great week-end.
During the retreat we allow for plenty of time to do your own thing. We like to think of our retreats as "Create Your Own". We offer a variety of choices you can pick and choose from, making the retreat exactly what you want it to be.
We usually offer a knitting project, but you can knit anything you want.
Naniboujou Lodge is located just North of Grand Marais, MN. It's an amazing historic lodge that sits on the edge of Lake Superior. We have the Lodge all to ourselves for a glorious week-end of relaxing and knitting in the attached Solarium. We love that everything here is in one building: our rooms, the solarium and the dining hall. Participants have been known to shop yarn in the morning in their pajamas. Does it get any better than that?
The Lodge is also known for their food. It’s rich, it’s delicious and really, having meals made and served for these days, really makes it feel like a vacation.
Lake Superior is a short (50 yardish) walk from the Lodge. What better way to stretch your body after a knitting session.
There are also hiking trails very close by, a trip into Grand Marais is very doable, or head North and explore. We provide brochures and information on various things to do in your free time. And there is nothing wrong with just staying at the Lodge and relaxing.
