This dishcloth is double knit. You actually knit two layers at once. What better way to practice than on a checkerboard.

We used Rowan Summerlite DK. 100% cotton.142 yards/50grams
One skein of each color.
 
Gauge
Because it’s a dishcloth, we didn’t worry about gauge
