Diane designed this hat from a design she found in the Nordic Knitting Traditions book. She's calling it the Nordic Strength Hat and added the bits of red to make it a resistance hat. You could add any bit of color as an accent. The chart is fairly easy, and the top is decreased every round to make a "pointy" top that's not too long.
She knit the grey and white one and used Nature Spun Sport and an unknown fingering weight for the lining.
I knit the brown and white hat and used Cascade 220 sport and Malabrigo Arroyo for a soft lining.
The pattern is written for one size with a finished measurement of 20”. There is enough stretch to fit a 22- 23” head.
50 grams skeins of each color are plenty. You will use about half of that for the contrast color and the lining.
The body of the hat is knit with sport weight yarn on a size 3 needle at 7 sts. to the inch
The lining is knit with a fingering weight yarn on a size 2 needle.
