We toured this Mill when we were in Norway the Spring of 2025. They were just making their labels in English, getting ready to distribute to the U.S and now here it is.
Founded in 1898, Hillesvåg woolen factory is a family-owned spinning mill that has been providing fiber artists with yarn for over 125 years. Located in Hjelmås, Norway, the mill produces authentic yarns spun with Norwegian wool. Renowned for warmth & durability, Norwegian wool is durable & resilient. In addition, it is resistant to pilling & offers thermoregulating properties.
Ideal for stranded colorwork, Tinde is an authentic heritage yarn spun with 100% Norwegian wool. The 2-ply, DK weight has a lovely gauge for cold weather accessories & garments. The rustic hand of the yarn gets softer & even more beautiful with wash & wear.
A yarn for wool lovers, Tinde offers durability, warmth & resistance to pilling. It is spun from the wool of a sheep that is a cross between Gotland & Spælsau breeds. The wool is a luminous silver grey, which delivers the rich, heathered colorways in the palette.
Light, with a bit of loft, the yarn delivers beautiful stitch definition. Stockinette & textured stitch patterns come to life knit in the gorgeous, heathered colorways. The depth of the hues is accentuated by the incredible sheen & gentle halo of this yarn.
